Who am I?
a passionate about the gentle art who had his life transformed through sport. sport gave me the opportunity to change my life and that of my family, it helped me transform the lives of people close to me and made me a much better person, through jiu-jitsu I became a public figure and a being of motivation for others within sports jiu-jitsu I won countless titles such as world, european, nationals, internationals, pan-american, south-american, the best player of the year and many others. jiu-jitsu gave me the opportunity to be a QAF (Qatar Armed Forces) Coach, on my journey within the army I was able to teach a course to the IRAQ army and I also had the privilege of teaching the local police, at the police college.He also serves as an instructor for the Royal Family of Qatar, bringing Jiu-Jitsu to the highest level of recognition and respect in the country.

Matheus is a guy with a huge heart and is always open to helping those who pass his way, he is always willing to help someone's journey today, I live my dream of being able to live through the sport that I love and that taught me so much how to live.
My Mission
My biggest mission is to impact the lives of as many people as I can and show them
the effectiveness of jiu-jitsu in their lives on and off the mat.

Born in Brazil, Matheus left home at the age of 17 to pursue his dream of living through Jiu-Jitsu. His path is marked by discipline, sacrifice, and dedication, taking him from a promising competitor to the leader of one of the region’s largest academies.
With the warrior spirit that earned him the nickname “Tá Danado”, he built a solid career and founded Checkmat Qatar, carrying the Checkmat legacy into a new territory.

Matheus is a constant presence on the world’s biggest stages, having represented both Brazil and Qatar in AJP Tour, IBJJF, and other major international events. His career is highlighted by medals earned in prestigious tournaments and by participation in championships that shaped his experience as an athlete.
This competitive background is passed on directly to his students, making every training session a high-performance preparation.

Beyond being an athlete, Matheus is a dedicated coach with years of experience training everyone from children and beginners to elite competitors.
